Why an arch

A frame does something a backdrop cannot

A flower wall sits behind you. An arch surrounds you — and that difference matters more than it sounds. A frame draws the eye inward to the two people standing inside it, which is precisely what a ceremony photograph needs to do.

It also solves a practical problem. In a large room, a couple standing against a wall can look small and lost. An arch creates a defined focal point at human scale, so the moment reads clearly even from the back row.

Arches work hardest at ceremonies and proposals. For receptions and cocktail hours, where guests photograph themselves in groups, a flower wall is usually the better tool.

Shapes

Choosing an arch shape

Each shape frames the moment differently.

Circular

The most photographed shape and the most forgiving of height differences. A complete ring of florals around the couple.

Half-circle

An open arc that frames without enclosing, so guests seated behind still have a clear sightline.

Oval

Taller than it is wide, which suits narrower spaces and full-length portraits.

Heart

Traditional and unambiguous. The most requested for proposals and vow renewals.

Adding a sign inside the frame

A circular arch with a neon sign at its centre is the single most-requested proposal setup we build, and it works because the frame and the message are in the same shot — no separate sign standing awkwardly to one side.

  • "Will You Marry Me" in warm white neon, set inside a circular or heart arch
  • Custom wording — names, initials or a date
  • Rose petals and candles to complete the floor of the setup

Flower arch FAQ

What is the difference between a flower arch and a flower wall?

A wall is a background you stand in front of. An arch is a frame you stand inside. For ceremonies and proposals the framing is what makes the photograph, which is why arches are the usual choice for vows while walls suit receptions and cocktail hours.

What shapes of floral arch do you rent?

Circular, oval, half-circle and heart-shaped arches, plus square and panelled archways. Circular and oval are the most photographed; half-circle keeps sightlines open so guests still see you clearly.

Can an arch be moved from the ceremony to the reception?

Yes, and it is a common request. We build the move into the run sheet so the arch is in place before your reception begins. Tell us at the booking stage rather than on the day.

Can you install a floral arch outdoors?

Yes. Arches are freestanding and install on flat, firm ground with weighted bases. For exposed positions we will talk through wind honestly before the date and agree a wet-weather plan rather than improvising on the day.

Can we add a neon sign to the arch?

Yes. A "Will You Marry Me" or custom neon sign set inside a circular arch is one of our most requested proposal setups. See custom signs.

Do you rent paired arches for a ceremony aisle?

Yes. Two arches flanking an aisle, or an arch paired with a wall behind, both work well for larger ceremonies. Send us the space and guest count and we will suggest a configuration.

Planning a ceremony or proposal?

Send us your date, venue and the shape you have in mind and we will confirm availability.
